DIABOLOS...

brunitus

Diabolo: word which its origin comes from the old Greek “Diaballo”.
“Dia”: to throw and “Ballo”: Thru…
And this is what I'm devoted to:
...To throw thru the diabolo…emotions, joy, dreams…

The diabolo is a millenary Chinese invention
2000 years B.C it was used to scare away bad spirits
Everybody have some “bad spirit” that bothers us…
During my show….they goes away!

In the beginning of XIX century the French colonies introduce the diabolo in Europe .
And by that time it turned into a toy exclusively for the use of the High society.

In the XX century it became an object used by circus performers and street performers.
This way it regained its popularity.

In 1996 I had my first encounter with the diabolo…
This is not a common item in my country, Argentina …
for which my learning path was quite lonely…

And this turned out to be the stimulation for an investigation and the search of a personal style.
In the year 2001 merging two of my passions (Physics and Diabolos),
I invented a variation of this element.
A mixture of a diabolo, with a spinning top and a “gyroscope”
extending, this way, the degree of movementof this object
and its possibilities to surprise thru to the magic of the circular movement.

The diabolos spin…the circular movement has fantastic properties…
Forces going in different senses and directions…
Forces making the diabolo in motion gain own life…
Forces going toward who's handling it, it tickles and put a smile in your face…
Forces going toward who's watching it, which hypnotizes and dazzle…

And the wonderfulness of this element is its simplicity,
a pair of sticks jointed by a cord and two cups jointed by an axle…Just that….

brunitus

In my opinion, the “art” it's a way to communicate…
I found in the street a stage without distance…
I found in the diabolo a bridge straight to people's hearts…
